Does the idea of “personal growth” sound weird? Maybe because there might be a stigma around the “self-help“ industry – thinking -is there something wrong with me that I need this type of help?
But that has not been my experience.
Instead what I have found is, that the more I’ve gotten around successful people, I see that they think differently than most. They read different books. They have mastermind groups. Their conversations are about bigger things.
To me, that’s what personal growth is all about. Expanding my mindset, building my emotional intelligence, and having a deeper level of thinking.
These are the skills that help me both in life and in business. And as my personal skills have grown, so has my business.
Part of that journey is getting to know myself. Understanding how I’m wired, and how to relate and communicate with others that might be different from me.
Luckily, there are all sorts of tools to help you understand yourself and others, you just have to be intentional and seek them out.
Our book club just finished reading “The Platinum Rule: Discover the Four Basic Business Personalities and How They Can Lead You to Success” by Tony Alessandra.
I’ve also done Tony Robbins DISC profile on his website. I’ve read & studied the Enneagram. And so much more!!! One can say, I have spent a lot of time getting to know who I am, and more importantly how I can lean into my strengths, leverage my weaknesses, and be the best version of myself when I show up in my relationships and for my clients.
Most recently, Buffini & Company has come out with its Real Strengths quiz. That might be a good place to start! It’s always fun to compare profiles and get to know how different people are wired.
